By forming teams of up to six, participants will compete to raise as much as possible and travel as far as they can to collectively complete the iconic Route 66. We’ll still be measuring team distances, but every mile will be added to the totaliser to collectively complete the 2,448 miles of one of the most famous roads in the world.
You can run, walk or roll and all you need is a Strava account to get started. We don’t mind how you move or how far you go, the goal here is to raise much-needed funds for a charity that does vital work when it comes to road safety.
Of course, we’ll also be tracking individual miles if you do want to go head-to-head with the opposition. In fact, there’ll be separate accolades for most funds raised and the furthest distance travelled alongside the greatest prize of all - bragging rights.
So what are you waiting for? Assemble your team today. Set up your fundraising page for the team on Just Giving and choose Brake as your charity. Then, send this link, your individual Strava names and your team name to louiseyridercup@gmail.com.
The challenge will begin on March 22nd 2025. You’ll have just over 8 weeks to log your miles and compete with other teams.
Yes! The challenge is flexible. However you move your body on land, every mile counts. The event is designed to be fun and accessible, and we encourage everyone to participate.
To participate in the challenge, you need a Strava account to track your distance and a Just Giving account to raise funds for Brake. An individual will need to set this up, but you can all use the same page to fundraise.
This is a virtual fundraising event where teams roll, wheel, walk, or run the 2,448 miles of historic Route 66—from Chicago to Santa Monica—to raise money for Brake as part of the Louisey Rider Cup (LRC). You and your team will rack up miles to help us hit that 2,448-mile goal, with the added excitement of a little friendly competition.
Form a team: Gather up to 6 people for your team.
Choose a team name: Something epic, of course.
Connect your Strava account: We'll provide a link for each team member to connect to the LRC tracker individually.
Submit your Strava name: Make sure to send us the Strava account name of everyone on your team.
Each competitor’s Strava profile will be connected to the LRC site by admin. We’ll use this to log and track your miles. A live leaderboard, map and stats will allow everyone to see how much distance has been covered and how much money has been raised.
Brake is a charity that carries out valuable work raising awareness around road safety. You can read more about how the Lousiey Rider Cup supports Brake here.
If you have a team taking part in the LRC Route 66 fundraising challenge, you have an opportunity to be declared the winner of either or both of the following:
Team that travels the furthest distance
Team that raises the highest amount for Brake
Here’s the small print…
The fundraising competition begins at midnight on Saturday, March 22nd 2025.
The distance competition closes at midnight, Thursday May 15th 2025. At this time the system will stop tracking all activity and the team which has tracked the furthest distance is the winner of the furthest distance travelled competition.
The team which has raised the most funds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15th 2025, will be declared the winner of the most funds raised competition.
Fundraisers will still be able to raise funds for break via Just Giving after this point, but it will not count towards the most funds raised competition.
Any additional funds will, however, be added to the 2025 fundraising total for the 2025 Louisey Rider Cup tournament - so do continue with your fundraising and follow up with your family after the competition!
We will be able to access any public activities you upload. We will not be able to access any private activities.
We will display your total distance travelled and the total time spent on your activities.
We will not share any location data.
We will display your Strava profile image and your first name on your Strava profile.
Set up a Just Giving page for your team and make sure everyone has the link. The challenge begins on March 22nd 2025, but there’s nothing to stop you from fundraising right away. Learn how to set up a Just Giving page here.
It’s all about the team spirit! Use the live leaderboard and keep sharing your progress with your social networks. Having some charismatic personalities to lead the charge and cheer everyone on will definitely keep things fun and competitive!
